Classy, glassy and an absolute ass kicker. The mighty Boca Grande is an incredibly tough and resilient 12 weight fly rod.Lets be frank here. 12 weight graphite rods tend to be as stiff as broomsticks, far from enjoyable to cast and get one under serious load and they're prone to exploding. We build an extremely tough 12 weight fly rod that was fun to cast.
The Blank.
The Boca blank is a marvel of composites engineering. Our prime design consideration was to keep weight down while delivering fast recovery speed. Fully unidirectional S2 FastGlass delivers super strength and resilience without the weight.Each Kit contains:

GermanyJust completed the Boca Grande - the last two sections are turning away in the dryer! It was great fun to build and really pretty easy. Instructions are clear and no problem to follow and the materials supplied are more than adequate. I enjoyed it so much that I have just ordered a bamboo kit! Quality is excellent. Great work guys!
United StatesI built the Boca Grande for my trip to La Ventana, Baja, Mexico. The kit was superb. I have wrapped several rods, both conventional and fly. The Epic kit had all of the components required to produce a first class fly rod. The cork really is the best I have seen on any rod. But the most important thing is how a rod performs. The light blue rod turns heads and its performance changed a few minds. This is not anything like the recent fiberglass trout noodles that are being released by all the major rod suppliers. It is faster and lighter in the hand than one expect and easily throughs tight loops for good distance. I like at least a 500 gr. line on this rod. While several “lesser” fish were fun to play, the Grande really shined on the 45-50 lb. Papa Gallo (45 minutes of tip-in-the-water fight). I hope to add the Epic Bandit to my arsenal before my next Baja trip.
