Great starter for rod making — exceptional quality
Loved this kit. Took some time to get the techniques right. The end product is gorgeous with really high quality components. I might try a carbon one next.
First ever rod build and a fish catcher
Decided I wanted to try my hand at building a rod. This kit took all the guesswork out of what to buy. Very good instructions and videos with how to’s. Rod is a success. Been fishing it on wild browns and it easily handles fish up to 16”. Love the bend and the action. Easy to cast both near and far. Excellent rod. Fiberglass action is awesome. Definitely a keeper.
370 FastGlass Rod Building Kit
Very high quality components, better cork than I've seen on some real high end rods. The kit comes with everything you need and if you are a beginner the booklet with instructions and tips is very valuable. One small minus and it's a very small one. No hook keeper. Some people do not put them on their build but I'm old school and like one on mine.
Epic 370 rod kit
While daunting at first, once I got into it I found the building fun and very rewarding. Other than some masking tape and an India ink pen, everything I needed was in the kit. The instructions are very thorough and I didn’t find myself looking externally for extra info. I was blown away with the finish I was able to get. I’m really glad I built my own rod, it’s something I’d thought about for ages. If you’re considering it, just do it, you won’t be disappointed.
First-time rod builder would do a cartwheel, except he might hurt himself
I'm retired and building my own high-quality fly rod was on my bucket list. No more. I bought the Epic 370 model and it was a dream to build. I did a fair amount of reading how-to books and viewing videos. This is not a task for the impatient. The kit from Swift Fly Fishing was first rate and the 50-page "build book" was invaluable. Cripes, it was even written with flair and humor. Generous amounts of all epoxies. And I asked that the spine on each piece be marked, and it was. Great service, great follow-up. I have already recommended this kit to friends. Mike R. Clovis, California
