FastGlass II™ All Epic "Glass" rods are produced from industry-leading 8 micron Unidirectional S-2 Glass. This next-generation fiber is specifically engineered for fly rod production and features 8 micron fibers developed and produced in the USA. These fibres are almost half the diameter of other unidirectional materials, resulting in tighter, more precise and stronger fly rods.
SnakeBelly™ SnakeBelly™ delivers the toughest exterior finish possible. After production, blanks are first painted and then clear coated. This two-step process produces blanks that are incredibly scratch resistant and durable.
SureFit Ferule™ Break a tip? we've got you covered This ferule system is so precise that breakages can be addressed by simply sending out the replacement part. Gone are the days of having to return a broken section.
Handcrafted one at a time - especially for you Choose the options you'd like on your Epic fly rod and we'll build it for you with tender loving care right here in our Wanaka Studio. Each Studio built fly rod is handcrafted specifically for you from start to finish and each is identified by a unique laser engraved winding check registered against your name in our owners' database.
Make it personal Add your name or inscription and we'll hand paint it on your fly rod.
Workmanship The level or craftsmanship on each Epic fly rod is unrivalled. You will not see a better-built fly rod anywhere, better components, better workmanship, better attention to detail.
Built Epic Tough Epic glass rods are incredibly tough. Our S2 FastGlass II has a far higher strength-to-weight ratio than Carbon fibre (graphite) rods. Epic FastGlass rods can endure more acute and severe bends than the equivalent Carbon fibre or even regular S2 glass, tip sections are stronger and far less susceptible to breakages due to high-sticking and problematic rod angles when pulling against load.

Loved my new 580, first day I used on my home river, fishing a medium size foam fly from the boat and loved it! Fast for glass, turned over a foam fly but still felt like casting it all day with that traditional glass smoothness!
It's a beautifully finished rod. While I have not had access to water I put it through its paces on our large lawn. I figure after 64 years of fly fishing and over 50 years of teaching casting I have a rough idea on rod performance. It casts beautifully from 15 to 50 feet and is quite easy to mend in any design your ability allows you. While it is easy to cast a greater distance, it is sensitive to power application and a misapplication of that power will give you the expected results. If you are a student of casting, this rod will make you a better caster. I do not question the fishability of this rod. Rarely do you have an excellent fishing tool and one that makes you a better caster all in the same package, enjoy, Michael Maloney
Even better than I expected, and I expected a lot. A thing of beauty, a joy to cast, and the real reason I wanted it, an absolute joy to fight fish with. I fish in tight quarters, on a spring creek with skinny waters and big browns, so I needed something that would enable me to cast accurately, and lay down flies softly to spooky fish. And at the same time, have the backbone to keep a big fish away from the snags. Done and done.. And I have the video evidence, if you are interested. The most fun I have had with my clothes on.
