I have used this rod many days over the past two years. It casts nicely with amazing distance. It mends well. I mostly throw a dry fly but have nymped with it many times. Several anglers have asked to cast it as it throws line farther than any other.

I bought the 590 C completely blind. I was after a rod with a slightly through action but not to much. I also wanted supreme lightness with high power through the torque curve. It needed also to be tough and resilient to the odd over powered punch and unexpected scrapes and knocks which I encounter dozens of times every trip. The rod also needed to lay line at short to medium range exactly where the line of the rod fell and a superb feel when fish were on the end. Not much to ask then? Well this rod did all of the above attributes and more and when they come together they are more than the sum of their parts. Basically it’s friggin superb but unfortunately for you, you will never know……. Or will you?

My Go To Rod
I’ve been waiting to write this review until I had put the 590C through it’s paces. For the last four months, I’ve used this rod in just about every trout fishing scenario you can imagine. Delicate dry fly presentations, dry-dropper rigs, streamers, etc. I can definitively tell you that the 590C has done everything I have asked it to do well, and it has become my go to trout rod. It protects tippets incredibly well, while at the same time having enough “guts” to toss a triple fly rig in a strong wind. I have owned a lot of great fly rods over the years, and my 590C is the best 5 weight I have ever fished.
