After fishing with one for some time I figured another was reel was worth having. So it was an easy decision to go with the same reel. Great design, perfect weight for hours of casting and the drag is faultless.Totally worth its value.
After directly comparing this with another more expensive, major brand, the Epic Backcountry fly reel is clearly superior. It has been carefully designed with a large arbour, sealed drag and a lovely satin finish.
I have been testing epic Backcountry Fly Reel 5/6 now for 2 weeks for fishing in the sea and fly fishing for sea trout. So, I fell in love directly when I opened the package and saw the reel. I just felt that this is quality. it has light weight , removing the spool is easy, change from left to right hand no problem. the brake works very well (tested for 50+ cm sea trout). in other words, everything works as it should on a modern reel with quality. since the look appeals to me is just a bonus. I have not found any pros and cons for this reel. Also have a 3/4 waiting for some action and not tested yet. Can’t wait for some better weather here in Norway so the dry fly season will begin. Just want to thank you Carl and epic for making this reel and with real quality. Cheers from Norway
Love this reel! It has replaced my Water Works reel that has served me well for 14yrs! The weight and size of the Backcountry reel is spot on! You don't even notice it's there. After several fish I now have the drag dialled in and its basically 'set and forget' as far as that goes. The drag is quiet but still loud enough to put a smile on your face :)
