Amazing quality, the build is going well thanks to the great instructions included. Rod, seat and handle oozes class and quality. Wrapping is actually easier than I expected and the epoxy levels so well using the optional epic rod turner. Couldn't be happier!
580 Fast Glass
This was my first experience building a rod and was nervous I’d mess it up, but the directions were very clear and straightforward. You can tell all the materials are high quality. I just finished the build after a couple weeks, and am really happy with how it turned out. If you’re on the fence about wanting to build your first rod, I’d say go for it, especially if you enjoy tying flies as there’s similar skill sets between them. Can’t wait to get out and put the rod to use!
So helpful and fast
I had a very important birthday in just a few days, and the team packaged it up super fast and delivery was just a day or 2 later. Great service.
Best rod build I’ve done
Loved building this rod it turned out so good, it was a pleasure to build. I finished it a few days ago and took it out and fished little pine lagoon here in Tasmania, no fish but it was awesome to use. Loved it.
Absolutely Top Quality
Where do I start? Everything about my experience with Swift has been excellent, from the pre-sales customer service to the smallest detail of the Epic 580 kit. I was pretty nervous about my first rod build, but the instructions were clear and detailed, and the top quality components helped make things easier. There is also more than enough thread and epoxy for a few practice runs and mistakes. The blank itself looks and feels amazing. It is so smooth, but still casts with a good backbone. It throws dry flies into a decent breeze with no problem, and can toss a double nymph rig with sinkers and a big indicator fairly well. Playing fish on the rod is so enjoyable, it's almost hard to put into words. The rod is so sensitive, yet provides good strength when you bend it into the lower sections. It makes smaller fish more fun to play and bigger fish easier to land. I would venture to say that Epic kits are the best deal in fly fishing, and I couldn't be happier with the decision to try a Fastglass rod. Like many other reviewers have said, I'm already saving for the next Epic and looking forward to fishing these rods everywhere I can.
