39The very best components available, all designed to fit together seamlessly. No Reaming, No Drilling, No Sanding - All Epic.
The mighty 888 was designed specifically for chasing Big Bonefish but is just at home wrangling large freshwater species too. Given there’s not a flat where the wind doesn’t blow we’ve given the 888 an extra powerful butt section, strong tip and fast recovery rate to help punch a line out into those skinny water breezes.
The Epic 888 has gained cult status with Redfish, Pike, Musky and Golden Dorado anglers world wide. If you're chasing big toothy courtiers - this is the weapon of choice.
Regarded by industry pro's and glass aficionados world wide as the best glass 8wt made, the Epic 888 presents beautifully but packs a bad ass attitude. Perfect for tossing big flies, swinging streamers and saltwater work.
The 888 is as strong as an ox, super smooth and extremely versatile.

I started building my new 888 FastGlass Fly rod last weekedn and the parts fit perfectly and I cant wait to start using the rod, but it takes time to build the rod with care and I enjoy the work, so no rush in building process!
Great kit with all necessary items to build this rod were included together with easy to follow instructions. This was my third Epic Build but the first with Ghost Wraps. The Epic Team were very helpful throughout my dealings with them, I have yet to put the Rod through it’s paces chasing Sea Run Trout and Salt water species fish which I’m confident the rod will excel given the weight and responsiveness of the Rod well balanced with 7/8 weight Okuma SLV Reel. Thank you to the Epic Team.
My path is, I’m sure, like that of many others. Lifelong gear fisherman finally tries fly fishing and instantly everything that came before seems a bit, well, crude. The new obsession draws us deeper and we begin tying flies. Boxes filled with more nymphs, dried and streamers than we’ll ever use, we click through to that Epic ad. Another rabbit hole! I ordered the Fastglass 888 because I live near Tampa Bay and its redfish, snook and trout. The package arrived and I was immediately impressed by 1) the packaging and 2) the grip. I’ve never seen cork of this high quality. I’d intended to practice wrapping and epoxying by refurbishing an older rod before tackling the beautiful blue 888 glass, but the presentation and documentation of the kit Mede the process seem so approachable as to be nearly foolproof so I dove in. Each step in the process brought new satisfaction as I saw the results of newly acquired, growing skills. I built the rod with little difficulty and I’m proud of the beauty of the result. Today I used the 888 exclusively while stalking reds in knee deep water in Tampa Bay. It took a bit to adjust to the noticeably slower glass. My distance declined maybe 10%. But throughout the morning I gained a few moments when the rod felt more like an extension of me than my carbon fiber rods ever have. I look forward to dialing in my casting with this rod so that I can capture that feeling all day. Sadly, I didn’t get the opportunity to fight one of those reds (2 good shots, one spook and one eat that I didn’t set). This Fastglass 888 Ready to Wrap kit has been the perfect introduction and transition to this new dimension to fly fishing.
The glass 8 weight is my second Epic fly rods build. The kits are fantastic and easy to use. For anyone on a budget that can't afford the high price of top of the line fly rods, the Epic build kits are the answer. These are truly top of the line blanks that with a little labor I can afford for half the price. This 8 weight glass rod is my favorite bass rod and my epic carbon 6 weight is as good as any rod on the market. Thanks Epic for the innovative product.
