Designed for light double-handed duty and with a short, powerful taper, the Lite Skagit is ideal for smaller streams and trout Spey applications. Available in grain weights from 150-360, this two-colored shooting features a black marker at the end of the head that serves as a visible notification on where to begin your cast. Works perfectly with our SONAR Sinking Leaders and textured TC Tips. From dredging for steelhead to swinging streamers for trout, the Skagit Lite is Spey on a smaller scale.
Ultra-short head for turning over heavy tips with light two-handed rods
Perfect match to the Epic 4 wt trout Spey rod - casts over the horizon, using Lazer running line. Good head length which ensures the anchor isn’t blown during the cast. Perfect set up for the estuary sea runners!!!
At 13ft and 240 grains the line matches well to the Epic 4 weight trout Spey. Add sinktips or a poly leader to this head and it turns over the trout streamers I like to use. Using an intermediate tip you have a great combination for swinging soft hackles or wets.
This line has been paired up to my 6# Loomis, 9 Foot rod.
To the looped end I have added a 6 foot T8 sinking tip plus 5 foot of straight through 10lb line.
Normally adding a chunky Clouser minnow fly to this rig and you could have a a nice session of "chuck and duck", but not with the SA Spey Lite.
You can cast 60 feet with a simple dynamic roll cast, with ease. Great fun.
I cannot wait to put it into more situations where back casts are not possible and see what I have been missing in the past.
